In honor of our March 28th webinar on Peace in a Hectic World, we wanted to offer you some tips that make a huge difference in our lives. Take a look at these and let us know in the comments what tools you use!
Turning off social media and email notifications on your phone and computer will keep daily distractions to a minimum and give you a chance to focus on tasks uninterrupted. Plus it gives you control of when you would like to spend time socializing.
How you ask? Make an internet search for your phone or the social media app (like “facebook mobile app notification settings” and follow the instructions.
Have you noticed how your breath changes with your mood? Anxiety and upset bring on a shortness of breath or rapid shallow breathing. Using our full lung capacity increases oxygen to the brain and allows the body to release stress.
Try breathing in through the nose and imagining the exhale coming out through the front of the chest. Make sure to extend the belly out as you fill from the bottom up.
3. Honor your down time
Take time away from the television, computer and phone. Take small steps, maybe start with a “no phone at dinner” rule and see where that takes you. It’s quick and easy if you switch to airplane mode on your phone. Staying present with the people around you will nurture relationships and help you enjoy the company you’re with. The same goes for time in nature where the peace of the outdoors can help you feel more relaxed. It might feel uncomfortable at first, but if you allow it, it will embrace you.
4. Ask God for help
Surrendering our challenges, large and small to a higher power can release the burden from our shoulders and bring us magical solutions. It may not always turn out how we would have liked, but seeing the blessings in what comes we might just notice the joy of something new. Prayer can be a simple request asking for Divine help and intervention or it can be a more formal scripted prayer. Either way, sincerity will bring you wonders.
5. Practice yoga and/or meditation
A daily or even a weekly practice of yoga and meditation bring benefits of peace to mind, body and spirit. Connecting with the body will increase confidence, reduce anxiety and improve overall health. Even meditation can improve general health on top of its documented effects on stress release and overall happiness. Check out some of our free yoga and meditation videos.
6. Eat Healthy, Organic Meals
Food can be a challenge with our crazy schedules, but fresh meals made from organic produce can be an amazing refresher for mind and body. Sugar, caffeine and food additives affect glandular functions of the body, which in turn affect all other areas.
Make a commitment to yourself to give one of these a try for two weeks or join the webinar Saturday March 28 and see what happens!
