Expanding the aura helps us to feel secure in our surrounds, spread more joy and feel strong in who we are in foreign situations. It helps us to do things we thought were impossible and helps us to work beyond our perceived limitations.
Yogi Bhajan taught several techniques to do this, some simple, some not so simple and some that take determination. One of the very simple things Yogi Bhajan discussed was that if our aura falls under 4 feet from the body, we become depressed. Unfortunately this is a common problem today and there are many reasons for depression, but when we work on expanding the aura through some simple techniques we can help to prevent the aura from shrinking too far.
So now that you know, I can share a little secret with you. This is one of the reasons Siri Deva and I wear so much white! I know what you’re thinking… I could never wear white, it gets so dirty! I’ll tell you a little story. I was assisting with art classes for kids with a teacher I know and didn’t get a drop of paint on my white clothes, but the day I wore blue jeans they mysteriously had paint on them when I returned home. I can’t say that this happens to everyone, but I believe it is definitely a possibility if you try it consistently.
The natural white fabric (such as cotton or linen) helps the aura expand and the natural fibers promote a healthier circulation of air and energy around the body and electromagnetic field. One of Yogi Bhajan’s big points was that when you wear white you can expand your aura by a foot or two, thus preventing your aura from dropping below 4 feet and keeping you strong and happy.
Yes wearing white just one day will help here and there, but what if you tried it for a week? Two weeks? A month? That’s your challenge to try and investigate!
Yoga and dance
Doing yoga and other exercises that promote movement of the limbs help to expand and clear the aura. Can you remember the last time you danced? So maybe you’re not a world class competitive dancer, that’s ok! Have you ever danced in your underwear? That’s great! How did it make you feel? Good right? So give it a shot, take a yoga class, dance and fill yourself with joy to expand that aura! Kundalini Yoga has some specific sets designed for strengthening the aura such as this one: (external link) Strengthening the Aura.
This is a quick one, take some walks in the grass and ground yourself. This is not specifically a way to expand the aura, but it will help you balance and clear out energy that you may have picked up during the days or weeks past. It will help you feel balanced and energized.
Ok, so this is not everyone’s favorite, but maybe you can give it a try. The aura is related to the nervous system and taking a cold shower certainly wakes up the nervous system! Try it in the morning before you head to work or before you meditate or do yoga. Consistently doing this will make the showers easier and soon you may not even notice that the water is cold. To give yourself a head start, rub almond oil on your skin to create a buffer for the cold water before it hits you. It’s important to rub the body as you take the shower to give it a good wake up call and help the blood to circulate to the surface. Sometimes it’s easier to get the hands, arms and feet wet before you jump in to give yourself time to acclimate. Avoid getting the thighs in first as the cold will shock the thigh bone and make it feel even colder!
Yes, we do this every morning. It has taken several years for me to work up to taking cold showers, but now I’m hooked, they feel great! However, as ladies, we have to remember not to take cold showers while menstruating!
When we chant mantras, we are clearing the energy field and bringing in light energies and vibrations. One of the more powerful chants I would recommend are the (external link) Aquarian Sadhana mantras that Yogi Bhajan gave out. Chanting these before the rise of the sun will do some wonderful clearing in your aura and doing them with friends is even more powerful. You can join us weekly to give it a try. More information on where to attend is on the calendar.
I hope you give some of these tools a try and let me know how they affect your everyday life. May light surround you and the pure light within you guide your way on.
